What is SiACA?

Snowflake international Arts and Culture Achievement is just what it says on the tin! Sponsored by Snowflake Books and administered through Dragon Discoveries CIC it aims to inspire personal development through exploration of art in everyday life, finding out for yourself about your favourite artists and their work; and we hope you’ll be motivated to try some artistic work of your own.

A carefully devised program allows anyone to start with no skills or knowledge, just as a seeker after understanding, and work through five stages to be the best you can be.

SiACA grew out of an experimental group project in sharing experience of traditional crafts and arts between Taiwan and England and now welcomes people from many cultures. Projects may be based in your own country and culture, or it’s very exciting to explore the art of other cultures too and maybe learn a little language as well.

SiACA is based on the belief that art is everywhere, from traditional and classical art to everyday objects, and is for everybody. Everyday objects and graphic material such as adverts, folk art and crafts and even engineering all involve art and design and have interesting stories to be discovered.

A successful event in Taiwan, for example, looked at the English custom of afternoon tea. This led to exploration of design and decoration of teacups, teapots, caddies, teaspoons, and even cakes; and depictions of tea drinking in paintings and cartoons and literature.

Working for a SiACA award is a lot of fun and develops an awareness of an aspect of life we often tend to take for granted. And you will get a handsome certificate for each stage of your progress.
